Who will restore all
things?
Much controversy
surrounds the identity
of the end-time Elijah
and the timing of his
advent to “prepare the
way”. The Bible is
filled with scriptures
prophesying of the
coming of this Biblical
personality. Many
believe that the
end-time Elijah has
already come and gone,
some few believe that He
is on the scene at this
time, while others
believe that the
end-time Elijah is yet
to come. What about you?
Do you believe that the
end-time Elijah has
already come, or do you
believe he is still to
appear?
A number of Old
Testament passages
prophesy of the coming
of this individual.
Notice Malachi 3:1 as
one example:
“Behold, I will send my
messenger,and he
shall prepare the way
before me: and the Lord,
whom ye seek, shall
suddenly come to his
temple, even the
messenger of the
covenant whom ye delight
in: behold, he shall
come, saith the LORD of
hosts” (Mal. 3:1).
Who is the messenger
prophesied to prepare
the way? Who are we to
seek and expect? The
prophecy of the end-time
Elijah was given for
God’s people – and it
was given so that we
could understand and be
prepared! The name and
identity of this
individual is embedded
within the text of
scripture for those with
“eyes to see” and “ears
to hear”.
Notice a New
Testament prophecy
as delivered by Christ
Himself in Matt. 17:11:
“And Jesus answered and
said unto them, Elias
truly shall first come,
and restore all things”.
Here we are told that
Elijah will come to
restore “all things”.
“All things” means
“nothing left undone”.
As we consider this
verse, and all the other
scriptures on this
topic, we must ask some
valid questions: Who
could restore all
things? Who would we
trust to restore all
things to the point
where our minds are
completely at rest that
everything that has been
restored is truly
restored once and for
all, void of any error
and human reasoning?
